It's been a busy past year. There has been many good things and bad things. I had a great job for a great company but I also have my stupidity of youth catching up to me. It's the classic "If I knew then, what I know now..."
In my younger days I didn't think about money like I should have. Credit was simply a thing to get what I wanted and I could pay it later. Now those habits haunt me. I let the idea of new and shiny get past my since of "WTF you cannot pay for that". This is a habit that must be broken and this current market is putting big bright flashing neon lights the likes of which Denmark's red light district has never seen.
It wasn't long ago when I really wanted a new computer so I built it. As always computer technology gets cheaper and I could probably build the same system for $300 less, but that is opportunity cost for you.
I probably should correct that statement. I could probably build that same system for almost $600 less. It's not so much because of some great leap in technology but more the fact that the economy sucks. To hightlight this there was an advertisement this morning about cars. Many dealers are resulting to $0 down, 0 interest, and employee pricing. WTF If I had $2000 I'd be all over this. But like I said, past habits come back to haunt you.
Now I know this situation is my fault. In short I was foolish. Not stupid, not ignorant, but foolish. I knew what I was doing was not a smart thing to do but I wanted it now and that means I miss out on getting it for an incredible deal now. But lets step back from this for a moment and look at the country.
I'm not alone in my foolishness. Granted I haven't hit the magnitude of GM, Ford, Chrysler or the various banks but I still don't have anyone to blame but myself. That said I do feel for the employees of those same banks and various companies. Just like my children those employees are going to bare some of the burden. They will probably not get the nice bonuses, and their raise may not be so great. Oh wait. What's that you say? Bail out? They get a bail out?
I went out and spent money on credit and over paid for a house, but I still pay my bills and I'm doing without the niceties of life that others have. My wife and I both work and would have had a popcorn Christmas if it wasn't for my Lord's provision through a friend who is a hard worker and realized my wife could help with his winter business. I pay my taxes and I'm dealing with my foolish past. And yet.
AND YET the government wants to bail out these banks, and now the auto industry. "WTF" is an understatement. My taxes and the taxes my children will pay in the future will be sucked up into this madness. "Oh but it's only a loan. They will pay it back."
Will they? If it is just a lone then why doesn't any bank give them the money? Oh yah, banks are needing bailouts too, but I notice it isn't all banks. I've seen many local banks doing just fine. Could it be because they are not foolish and recognize foolishness when they see it?
My lament in all this is creditors are all to willing for you to sell your life away on credit that you can never pay back. Today we witness the evil of usury and how it enslaves us.
Welcome to the new slavery. The events of the day are a power grab. There are forces at work that seek to contain or destroy the American dream. We've ignored our constitution, ignored reality, and have let our rights be stolen from us in broad daylight.
Let these be a warning to you.
Proverbs 1:32 For the waywardness of the simple will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them;
"Give me control of a nation's money and I care not who makes it's laws."
- Mayer Amschel Bauer Rothschild
"With the exception only of the period of the gold standard,
practically all governments of history have used their exclusive power
to issue money to defraud and plunder the people."
- Friedrich A. Hayek
"It is well that the people of the nation do not understand our banking
and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a
revolution before tomorrow morning."
- Henry Ford
