Oh the frustration.... Ruby vs Python vs PHP... and the dance goes on.

So I've been thinking of branching out my programming. I'm decent with PERL and PHP. I can read Java and C/C++ pretty well and I have written several shell scripts but I'm trying to figure out if I want to add Ruby or Python next?

A friend, who worked with Django, really loved Python but I also have a co-worker who cannot help tout the beauty of Ruby. Then I go look at a site like Hotscripts.com and see the number of apps that have been uploaded and PHP is the leader in development. If you head over to the Computer Language Benchmarks Game you can compare various languages and see the comparisons between them. If you do you will find that Python comes out the best verse PHP and Ruby. However fastest is not always best otherwise we would all be doing our web programming in C++.

So what does this all mean? It mean I may just flip a coin or start doing both Ruby and Python to see what the fuss is about. That all said I welcome suggestions on tutorials available online.
