Pictures are worth a thousdand lies.

I'm a photographer (as a hobby) and I am rather proficient with Photoshop. However the New York Times brings out some interesting points in "I Was There. Just Ask Photoshop."

Point 1: Pictures lie:

It is true, you cannot trust pictures anymore. Even the esteemed Reuters is not immune from the photo touch up problem. Adnan Hajj published fraudulent pictures of Israeli attacks on Lebanon.

Point 2: My Reality is not your reality.

Reality is interesting. Many people think reality is what you make of it. Others believe reality is the only absolute. Some postulate, what if we are in the Matrix. Our bodies are sitting in large vats and are brain is connected to the machine. The virtual world is our frame of reality? Well now we do it with pictures. Have an ex you don't like in that vacation shot? remove them.

"In my own reality, I know that these things did happen," Ms. Horn
said. But "without him in them, I can display them. I can look at those
pictures and think of the laughter we were sharing, the places we went
to."
I find this interesting. Ms. Horn wants to think about the laughter of the place she shared with her family but wants to drop one of those people from the picture. I personally marvel at how people wish to remove their past but still want to display it. Personally it's a past event. I don't go throwing it in everyone's face but I don't hide from it. Even the bad things.

I remember a women complaining about her username onces. She wanted it changed so that she didn't have her ex-husband's last name as part of her username. This women was crying and blubbering (spittle and everything) that she needed the username changed as she couldn't mentally handle it. He was either a very bad person or had the misfortunet of having a totaly hysterical wife. I fell sorry for the unknowing coworker who just happens to have the same lastname as her ex and is forced to work with the women. Then again look at what happened to Hitler's name. You don't see it used much anymore do you.

I wonder if this is how the death of history happens? People ignore the truth because it becomes to unpleasent for them.
